Production Technician

Join CranePower at a key stage of growth and take real ownership of the precision manufacturing that supports its international expansion.

  • Own cable fabrication & wire harness assembly
  • Hands-on role building the battery systems powering construction sites globally
  • Help shape workshop standards and processes as CranePower expands rapidly
The Company
CranePower is a next-generation Construction Tech company based in Auckland, New Zealand. We design and manufacture the world's most power-dense mobile batteries. Their E-Gen Series delivers consistent, clean, compact power to construction sites, with a footprint 10% of the size of container-based BESS solutions.

CranePower is four years old and scaling rapidly with hundreds of units deployed throughout Australia and New Zealand and 300,000+ hours of verified operation.

The company is now setting its sights on the European and Australia markets, and is looking to scale its team.

The Role
Based at their Rosedale office, CranePower is looking for a Production Technician to take ownership of pre-production manufacturing and assembly for their high-power battery energy systems.

This role specialises in heavy-gauge power cable fabrication, custom control cables and precision wire harness preparation, working within a collaborative workshop environment ahead of final assembly. Every cable, harness and sub-assembly you build directly protects the performance and safety of CranePower's battery energy systems once they're out in the field.

It's a hands-on opportunity for someone who takes real pride in precision work, holds a high standard on everything they touch, and wants to help build the foundations of a manufacturing function as CranePower continues to scale.

What You'll Own
Your day-to-day will be varied, and hands-on.  You can expect to own the following, but each day will be different.

  • Handle heavy-gauge power cables and wire harnesses, from precision cutting and crimping through to final labelling and protective dressing.
  • Operate crimping machinery and validate every termination for mechanical soundness, so quality is right the first time.
  • Build cable kits and sub-assemblies to master drawings, feeding practical improvement ideas back to the Production Lead and engineering team.
  • Keep your workstation organised and traceable, and flag any defective materials or quality issues early.
About You
You've got hands-on crimping experience with pneumatic or hand crimpers on large-diameter, multi-strand power cabling, and you understand wire crimp mechanics well enough to know what good actually looks like. You're confident reading technical drawings and wiring schematics, and comfortable with hand fabrication tools, torque wrenches and precision measuring instruments.

You take pride in neat, reliable work and hold a high standard on everything you build. You're methodical, detail-oriented and comfortable with repetitive, high-accuracy production work, but you're also someone who spots a bottleneck and says something rather than working around it.

Most importantly, you'll be comfortable in a fast-moving, scaling business where not everything is perfectly defined yet, and there's real opportunity to help shape how things are done as the workshop grows.

Why This Role?
This is a great opportunity to join a fast-growing New Zealand business at an exciting stage of its journey. CranePower is expanding into international markets, and this role puts you right at the centre of the manufacturing quality that makes that possible.

You'll play a genuine hand in building the production standards and workshop processes that support CranePower's next stage of growth, not just following a process someone else already built.
