This is a highly visible, field-based role requiring regular travel across Hawke's Bay and the Bay of Plenty.

The Role
Reporting to the Health, Safety & Environmental Lead, this newly created role sits within the national H&S team and provides hands-on support across Hawke's Bay and the Bay of Plenty. With a strong field presence, you'll work alongside teams across apple and kiwifruit orchards, vineyards, accommodation, and workforce environments, helping to understand how work is done and identify practical ways to make it safer and easier.
The Health & Safety function supports each business across the Monarch Platform, recognising that while every operation is different, the commitment to keeping people safe remains the same. You'll work closely with leaders and frontline teams to identify risks, understand how systems and processes influence outcomes, and support practical improvements. Success in the role will come from building trusted relationships, influencing without authority, and helping teams solve problems before they become incidents. The team's approach is grounded in Human and Organisational Performance (HOP), recognising that people are fallible, systems influence behaviour, and learning is more valuable than blame. Whether responding to incidents, near misses, or everyday challenges, the focus is on understanding what happened, why it made sense at the time, and what can be learned to improve the system moving forward.
About You
