Bspkl is NZ's first hydrogen deep technology company, and we're at an inflection point. We've got a working manufacturing process for high-performance catalyst coated membranes. Now we need someone to take it and scale it.
This is a hands-on engineering role at the core of what we do. You'll own the development of our deposition systems: magnetron sputtering, chamber design, plasma dynamics, the works, and progressively build out the manufacturing capability we need to hit our unit economics.

Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Developing and scaling our magnetron sputtering-based manufacturing system
- Designing and building out equipment, vacuum systems, and production infrastructure
- Owning process optimisation: throughput, yield, consistency
- Establishing process controls and documentation to support quality at scale
- Working directly with the CEO and production team to align engineering with commercial priorities
- Over time, building and leading a small engineering team
- A strong engineering background with real scale-up experience. You've taken systems from early-stage to higher-volume production.
- Comfort with vacuum systems, plasma physics, high voltage, or related disciplines
- Ideally, hands-on experience with magnetron sputtering, ALD, or PVD technologies, but we'll back the right engineer even if your background is adjacent
- Someone who's comfortable doing the work, not just directing it
