Captivate Case Study: Clarity from Chaos
Captivate is a New Zealand-based deep tech company operating at the forefront of spatial computing. Their multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technologists is developing advanced solutions that transform how people interact with digital and physical environments.
Problem
Captivate’s founding team are brilliant innovators but had limited experience leading and growing a business. With new investment secured and a runway for rapid growth, they needed a clear path forward. The challenge: align a multidisciplinary team, a new board, and investors quickly, without pulling leadership away from mission-critical work.
Solution
Preparation was everything. We did the groundwork in advance, interviewing the CEO, team, board members, and investors to understand the context and constraints. This meant we could bring the right people into the room for just one day and make it count.
We co-designed 70% of the vision and values with the CEO beforehand, leaving space to shape and stress-test it live with the team. The day was hyper-efficient, problem-focused, and designed to deliver: clarity, alignment, and a practical 18-month roadmap.
Impact
By the end of the day, the team wasn’t just aligned they were energised. With shared values, a unified direction, and a board that backed it, they’re now in a position to make the most of their funding. The chaos of early-stage growth was replaced with clarity, focus, and confidence in their next steps.
